FAQ

Who Can Become a Member?
Anyone interested in screenwriting, regardless of where they live, can become a member of the Wisconsin Screenwriters Forum. Dues of $50 per year are first payable at the time of joining. This fee is pro-rated for new members who join in the middle of the membership year. The term of membership runs from October 1 to September 30 of the following year, at which time dues will be re-assessed.

Who Runs the Organization?
The Wisconsin Screenwriters Forum is made possible through the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers!  The president is a working screenwriter and former studio reader.  The vice president is a published author.  The rest of the WSF board is made up of talented individuals with a passion for screenwriting and especially for the WSF and its members.

Where and when does the WSF meet? Do I have to be a member to attend a meeting?
Meetings are currently held in Madison, Wisconsin. For dates, times and locations click on the Meetings link. Prospective members are invited to attend one meeting free of charge to check us out. We hope that you’ll consider joining WSF once you’ve been our guest.

We will also be developing online meetings in the near future for those not in the Wisconsin area.  Such members are also encouraged to visit the forums.

I think I have a good idea for a screenplay, but I’ve never written anything before. Would I be able to participate in group activities?
The WSF was formed to assist anyone interested in writing screenplays. One of our goals is to provide educational opportunities for our members. If you’re new to writing, you’ll find many veteran screenwriters in the group who would be happy to share their knowledge. We also hold seminars on screenwriting designed to assist both new and veteran writers develop their skills. New writers are always welcome at WSF functions.

You can also pose any questions to the WSF Online Forums as well.

I don’t live in Wisconsin or in Los Angeles. Can I still join? Absolutely. Members out of state have full access to all the benefits extended to those in Wisconsin. Through our new website, we hope to bring online meetings and seminars to members wherever they are.
